On October 22nd, the Regina Japanese Cultural Club hosted a conversation with human rights activist Art Miki. Amnesty International Regina was very happy to support this event as well.
Art Miki is a former president of the National Association of Japanese Canadians and negotiated for Redress for Japanese Canadians with the Mulroney government in 1988. Art read from his new book, ‘Gaman: Perseverance, Japanese Canadians’ Journey to Justice’. Art’s memoir talks about his forebears coming to Canada, his parents being born in Canada, and the infamous dispersal and dispossession of Japanese Canadians in the Second World War.
