Join Us on May 21st: Protect Gender Rights with Amnesty

Date: Tuesday, May 21, 2024

Time: 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM CST

Format: Virtual Event (Online)

Amnesty International invites you to a pivotal online gathering focused on defending gender rights in Saskatchewan.

Why You Should Attend:

The recent passing of Bill No. 137—which amends The Education Act concerning parental rights—poses significant challenges to the rights of children and youth in Saskatchewan. Despite invoking the “Notwithstanding Clause” to override the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, this legislation’s impact remains highly contentious and is currently under legal scrutiny.

Event Highlights:

  • Understanding Our Rights: We’ll kick off with an enlightening presentation on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, setting the stage for our discussions.
  • Expert Panel Discussion: Hear firsthand from those directly affected by Saskatchewan’s legislation. Our panel will include rights holders sharing their experiences and perspectives on the current challenges and possible future actions.
  • Take Action: Learn how you can make a difference. The final segment of our event will focus on actionable steps you can take to advocate for and defend gender rights within the province.

Commitment to Safety: We are dedicated to creating a respectful and secure environment. Please note that any form of abusive behavior will not be tolerated.
