Saturday, June 10th – join Amnesty International for the Queen City Pride Parade. The parade starts at 12noon however we will be gathering in our spot in the staging area (on 13th Avenue west of Broad Street). Our spot in the staging has been confirmed – it is on 13th Avenue – the 3rd spot east of Scarth Street on the left (or south side). Luther College will be in front of us and Aids Program South Saskatchewan behind us. Please aim to be there by 11:15am.
Today’s Pride Parades continue to be an important place to make our community’s presence known. The fight for 2SLGBTQIA+ rights and equity is still alive and Pride is just one of the many ways in which we bring attention to these important issues. There is an upsurge in anti-gender rights movements globally. 2SLGBTQIA+ people are under attack. Although widely lauded as a progressive ‘oasis,’ Canada is no exception. Hate towards 2SLGBTQIA+ communities is consistently on the rise, and violence, harassment and abuse are routine in the lived experiences of trans and gender-diverse communities nationwide. During Pride month, join us in amplifying the demands and rights of 2SLGBTQIA+ communities in Canada and across the world. You can find more information about how you can take action here.
