July 25: (ONLINE) Write to hold the police accountable for anti-black racism!

Saturday, July 25 at 12noon Saskatchewan time – join Amnesty International Canada’s National Youth Organizers on July 25th as we gather online to write letters demanding federal officials in the United States and Canada hold the police accountable for perpetuating systemic anti-black racism.

Police brutality has weakened and betrayed the trust of our communities in law enforcement. We must push back and demand justice for those who have been impacted by this destructive practice. At the end of the event we will ask that you share a photo of yourself with your letter in hand ( or just a photo of the letter) to your social media as well as sending them to us to be included in a photo collage.

On this day we will also invite you to participate in our social media solidarity challenge to celebrate the life of Breonna Taylor, an African American woman who was tragically and unlawfully murdered when police forced their way into her home in a failed drug sting attempt. We will demand justice and honour Breonna’s contributions as a frontline responder during the coronavirus pandemic as an EMT.

Be sure to register in advance here
