Please join and share the Facebook event here.
Special thanks to our event co-host, the Women’s and Gender Studies Department at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Regina.
We are especially pleased to announce that Jackie Hansen, the Amnesty International staff Campaigner for Major Campaigns and Women’s Human Rights will be speaking and presenting workshops at the conference.
The goals of the conference are to provide opportunities for both Amnesty International members and the larger community to learn about current human rights issues, build their skills as activists, and get more involved and active with Amnesty International. The Conference will deal with current human rights issues, with a focus on gender rights and equality. Whether you are a long-time Amnesty supporter or are just beginning to get interested in human rights issues, this event is for you!
Volunteer
Wherever you live in Saskatchewan, you can help make Get Active with Amnesty 2018 a success. We encourage everyone to take a few minutes and extend an invitation to your friends and neighbours who may share an interest in our human rights work.
We need a variety of volunteers for the day of the conference-please let us know if you are interested in contributing some time to help. Email us at aisaskfws@gmail.com and let us know if you are interested in helping or have questions.
Travel & Childcare Subsidies
We have a limited amount of money available for support for the cost of travel and childcare for the Get Active with Amnesty 2018 Conference. As a result, our priority will be to consider providing support to people who are carpooling. We will not be able to assist with the cost of hotels. In addition, because the cost of the travel from Moose Jaw to Regina is relatively small we will not be making it a priority to assist with this. (If you do need to apply for travel subsidy from Moose Jaw please let us know). We are not able to directly provide childcare at the conference however we encourage you to make your own arrangements and apply for assistance to cover this cost. Travel and childcare subsidies need to be pre-approved. If you are applying for support for travel or childcare, please do so by March 31st. A committee of volunteers will review your application and contact you as soon as possible after the deadline for receiving applications. Click here to download the Travel and Childcare Subsidy Application in a fillable PDF. You can also download the form as a Word document here.
Silent Auction & Donations
We are grateful to Amnesty International Canada for providing the support for the conference. This support has allowed us to keep the registration cost free for Get Active with Amnesty! We welcome inquiries about sponsorship and donations for the conference. Please email aisaskfws@gmail.com.
Silent Auction: To help reduce the cost of the conference we will be having a Silent Auction. If you would like to make a donation to the silent auction please email aisaskfws@gmail.com.
